About Us Hello, and a warm welcome to the website of the Leicester IAM Group
I’m
David Hage, and I’d very briefly like to tell you a bit about our
organisation – though please use one of the links on this page to
obtain more information about joining us and receiving free coaching to
take the IAM Test successfully, coming to our monthly indoor meetings,
or learning about the outdoor events we will be attending or running in
the next few months.
Formed
in the 1960s as Leicestershire Group of Advanced Motorists, we have
played an active role in road safety initiatives on both large and
small scales for more than 40 years. Now known as the Leicester Group,
we have an excellentrelationship with both the County’s Road Safety Office and Leicestershire Police, actually having our regular meetings
at Enderby Police Headquarters, on the third Wednesday of each month.
We were naturally delighted when, having taken his IAM Advanced Driving
Test with our help, Deputy Chief Constable Chris Eyre accepted our
invitation to become Leicester Group’s President in January 2009.
As part of the national Skill for Life programme, the Group’s advanced test coaching
is, without a doubt, a vital community road safety role. There are very
few restrictions on who’s eligible to take part – young or old, male or
female, students, disabled, employed, unemployed, or retired - provided
you have a roadworthy vehicle you’ll almost certainly be ok to have a
go. After all, its not what you drive, but the way you drive it that
matters most!
Britain’s
roads are becoming more crowded all the time, and we need high-level
driving skills to cope better with day-to-day hazards, as well as the
unusual things which sometimes happen. This is increasingly being
recognised when it comes to our standard driving test. So, if you’ve
been driving for just a few months or many years, and you’d like to
find out more about the IAM in the East Midlands and how we can help you to be just a bit safer out there, please don’t hesitate to contact us today.
